Trader Joe’s coming to Providence in 2022

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Big news for Trader Joe’s fans in Rhode Island!

Trader Joe’s said it is working hard to open its doors in 2022 on 425 S. Main St. in Providence, near the Providence Pedestrian Bridge.

“[We’ve] found a terrific location for a store in Providence, RI,” the company said Tuesday. “We are proud to be joining the neighborhood.”

Ward 1 Providence City Councilman, John Goncalves, explained, “Downtown hasn’t had a grocery store. So, that has been a food desert. The community members that I have talked to have been incredibly excited about having this local, accessible option, where they don’t have to drive to place like Warwick or out of town to be able to access these kinds of groceries.”

No further information was immediately released.
