Trooper nearly struck when cars spin out on Connecticut highway

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WLNE) — A car nearly hit a trooper when it struck a Connecticut State Police cruiser on the Fourth of July.

According to a police report, a trooper was placing flares on the highway after an incident along Route 72 in New Britain.

Body camera footage shows the trooper assessing the scene along a curve when cars start spinning out on the pavement.

The video shows a red car crash into another in the opposite lane and a dark-colored car hit the guardrail.

A thud is immediately followed, and the trooper says, “My cruiser just got hit.”

No injuries were reported.
