Troopers arrest Indiana homicide suspect at Newton rest stop

NEWTON, MASS. (WLNE)- An Indiana man who is wanted for the homicide of his girlfriend, was arrested by troopers on Wednesday, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Alexander Ortiz, 36, is wanted for the homicide of 37-year-old Andrea Aguirre.

Aguirre was found dead with multiple stab wounds inside the bathroom of her home on December 21.

Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and members of the United States Marshals Service located Ortiz, who was parked in a rest stop on Route 95 south in Newton, MA around 7 a.m.

Ortiz was in the victim’s car when found.

Troopers and Deputy Marshals had been working with investigators from Madison County, Indiana, in tracking Ortiz.

Ortiz was taken into custody as a fugitive from justice and transported to the State Police-Framingham Barracks.

Prosecutors will arrange his rendition to Indiana to face the homicide charges.
