Truck catches fire, shuts down road in Cranston

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Cranston Police Department said they responded to a vehicle fire Wednesday afternoon.

Police said Cranston fire officials were able to extinguish the blaze on New London Avenue before Route 37.

Authorities said their preliminary investigation suggested the fire began as a result of a mechanical issues.

Rhode Island State Police’s Commercial Enforcement Agency took over the investigation, officials said.

No further information was immediately available.
