Truck crashes into building, police say driver fled scene

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE): A truck drove right into a building in Providence at 10:00 PM on Sunday.

Officers on the scene with the Providence Police Department told ABC6 News that witnesses saw a man driving a truck down Orms Street before crashing into the building on 125 Charles Street.

Dispatch told police that the operator of the vehicle was a tall black man with dreadlocks, and wearing a tie-dye t-shirt.

He was the sole occupant of the vehicle and according to police, he fled the scene.

Police say nobody inside the building was hurt.

As of Monday night, Providence Police said the investigation is still ongoing.  However, police said that they found evidence in the truck which linked them to a name of a suspected driver.

It was not clear as to whether or not the driver has been apprehended.
