Tuukka Rask opts out of playoffs

BOSTON, MASS (WLNE) – Bruins goalie, Tuukka Rask has opted out of the remainder of the Stanley Cup playoffs, citing family was more important than hockey.

Boston Bruins released a full statement from Rask about the decision.

“I want to be with my teammates competing, but at this moment there are things more important than hockey in my life, and that is being with my family,” he said. “I want to thank the Bruins and my teammates for their support and wish them success.”

Bruins general manager Don Sweeney stated it was a difficult decision fo Rask but the team is “in full support of why he made this decision.”

Sweeney said he wasn’t entirely caught off guard by the ultimate decision because of prior conversations.

Rask spoke on how the play-offs are lacking their typical excitement and intensity following a 3-2 loss to the  Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday.

“It doesn’t feel like playoff hockey out there. There’s no fans, so it’s kind of feels like an exhibition game,” said Rask

“It just feels dull at times”, he continued.
