Twin River casino to close both locations at midnight

Tiverton and Lincoln will close for at least a week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- The Twin River Casino Hotel will close its locations in both Lincoln and Tiverton at midnight Friday, according to a statement released by the company.

The action was taken under the direction of state government as a means to prevent transmission of the coronavirus, according to the statement.

The closure will remain in place for at least a week, pending further directives from the state Lottery Commission and the Rhode Island Department of Health.

Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut issued a statement saying it would remain open. However, the casino was closing some of its games, including bingo, on Saturday, and several table games at its various facilities on Monday.

The company has taken other steps, including suspending bus transportation to its resort and canceling concerts and other events.
