Two arrested after RI state police seize 94 pounds of Marijuana

WEST GREENWICH, R.I (WLNE) – Two New York men were arrested on Saturday morning after police seized 94 pounds of marijuana from their car during a traffic stop. 

The arrests happened at approximately 11:15 a.m after troopers stop their car on I-95 North, near Weaver Hill Road in West Greenwich for an alleged seat belt violation. 

As a result of their investigation, police discovered 94 pounds of suspected marijuana, $6,165 in cash and a set of nunchucks. 

The suspects were identified as 28-year-old Junjie Li, of Brooklyn New York, and 49-year-old Zhong Ming Kuang, of Staten Island New York. 

They were both charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of more than five kilograms of marijuana. 

Li was also charged with  possession of a weapon other than firearm prohibited and he was issued a citation for not having his seat belt. 

Both men were processed at the Hope Valley Barracks and ordered he;d without bail at the ACI, pending formal arraignment in Third Division District Court on Tuesday.
