Two arrested for Central Falls shooting

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. – Two people have been arrested for Tuesday’s Parker Street shooting in Central Falls.

Police responded to Parker Street at approximately 3:40 p.m. after reports of a shooting.

The victim, Lisa Henriquez, 18, and another witness, told police that someone fired a gun into the window of the home.

Henriquez was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for a gunshot wound to the cheek and was later released.

Upon investigation, detectives found that the story of someone firing into the home and fleeing was false.

Detectives found that Henriquez suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound and mislead police to cover up that she and two others were playing around with a gun after thinking it was unloaded.

Henriquez was charged with firing a weapon in a compact area and obstructing officers in the course of an investigation.

She was arraigned Wednesday and released on $50,000 personal recognizance and will appear back on May 16, 2017.

A 16-year-old male was also charged with possession of a firearm by a minor and obstructing officers in the course of an investigation.

The male was charged because he attempted to hide the weapon used.

He appeared in Family Court Wednesday and is currently confined at the Rhode Island Training School.

The incident is still under investigation and additional people may face charges.
