Police identify two victims in shooting on Cheshire Street in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Two men died early Sunday morning after a shooting at a late night party in Providence.

The victims have been identified as 24-year-old Abdoulaye Dialla of Woonsocket and 29-year-old Abass Mbaye of Senegal.

Police do not currently have a suspect in the investigation.

At about 3:30 a.m. two men were shot outside of the party on Cheshire Street, according to the Providence Police Department.

Police say that the two men in their 20’s had been fighting on the street when the shooting happened.

ABC6 spoke with local witnesses to last night’s shooting.

We also received many photo’s and video of the incident from local residents.

One witness said the shots woke her up in her sleep.

She heard about 7 shots before she noticed what was going on outside.

“I heard someone screaming, “My brother! My brother! He’s been shot!” The police were then telling them to stop the car.”

They were both taken to Rhode Island Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The two were the ninth and tenth homicide victims in Providence so far this year.

Detectives are still investigating, no one has been apprehended yet.
