Two dead in apparent murder-suicide in Somerset Saturday

SOMERSET, M.A. (WLNE) – Massachusetts State Police, Somerset Police and the district attorney’s office are investigating what is believe to be a murder-suicide.

Somerset Police received an emergency call from a relative of the female victim around 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning saying that she had found two individuals dead inside a home at 160 Thelma Avenue.

Once police arrived, they determined the deceased victims were Amber Pereira, 30 and Joshua Pereira, 31. Both individuals sustained gunshot wounds and a firearm was found under Mr. Pereira.

Early stages of the investigation revealed that Mr. Pereira recently moved out of the home after the couple separated.

Prior to 8:00 a.m., Mr. Pereira drove the home on Thelma Avenue.

Witnesses described hearing several gunshots coming from inside the home, shortly after he arrived.

Autopsies to will be conducted by the state medical examiner’s office to determine the official cause and manner of death.

At this time, it does not appear that any other individuals were inside of the home or were involved in the incident.

The matter continues to actively be investigated.
