SOMERSET, Mass. (WLNE) — The Somerset Police Department said it is investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Saturday morning.

The department said that officers responded to reports of a vehicle hitting a telephone pole on the Route 103 rotary around 1 a.m.

When officers arrived they found a motorcycle and a vehicle, with two victims lying in the road.

The male victim was declared dead on scene, while the female victim was transported to a local hospital where she was also pronounced dead.

The driver of the other vehicle was also transported to the hospital out of “an abundance of caution.”

The department said it is not releasing the identities of either victim until they can be identified and next of kin can be notified.

Police said the investigation into the crash is ongoing but they believe the motorcycle entered the rotary the wrong way.
