Two Fall River men arrested for illegal gun possession

FALL RIVER, Mass (WLNE) – Two men from Fall River have been arrested and charged with being in the possession of a firearm without a license.

Fall River police say they conducted a search warrant Thursday at an apartment on Purchase Street and found the following:

  • Ruger SR22P handgun
  • (14) round of .22 ammunition
  • Harrington and Richard (H&R) 12 GA shotgun
  • Remington 12GA shotgun shell

Jordan Benevides, 19, and Noah Freitas, 20, were arrested as a result of the search warrant.

“Gun violence is our top priority,” Police Chief Jeffrey Cardoz said. “If you carry or possess an illegal firearm in Fall River, we will leave no stone unturned.”

Benevides was charged with possession of a firearm without an FID card and possession of ammunition without an FID card.

While Freitas was charged with possession of a shotgun without an FID card and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
