Two Firefighters Injured in Providence Auto Shop Fire

Two Providence firefighters suffered minor injuries when they responded to a fire in an auto body shop in Providence Tuesday evening.

The fire broke out around 630pm on Cliff Street at El Maestro Auto Repair.  Employees tell ABC6 that they were working on a car at the time when somehow a fire sparked – one man suspected a fuel leak in the car but they're not sure.

Heavy smoke inside the building led one firefighter to trip on a piece of equipment and hurt his knee, while another strained his back.  Both were taken to Rhode Island Hospital to be checked out but are expected to be fine.

ABC6 Reporter Malini Basu has the details.
