Two in New Bedford arrested for trafficking more than 200 grams of fentanyl
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE)-Two men were arrested in New Bedford on Tuesday, after police caught them trafficking fentanyl.
Investigators executed a search warrant for an apartment on Division Street. The targets of the warrant were 37-year-old Frances Justiniano, and 22-year-old Isaiac Sanchez-Lara.
After an investigation into a fentanyl distribution service on Tuesday February 22, two men were charged with trafficking 200 grams or more of fentanyl, trafficking in 36 grams or more of cocaine, and conspiracy to violate drug law.
During the search, detectives seized 36 clear plastic bags of fentanyl weighing 163.1 grams, 5 clear plastic bags of cocaine weighing 11.4 grams, 17 bags of cocaine weighing 27.5 grams, $1,010 believed to be profits from drug sales, cell phones, packaging materials, and more.
Police also seized 71.6 grams of fentanyl that Lara had thrown over a wall on County Street.
Both men were charged with the following:
- Trafficking fentanyl, 200 grams or more
- Trafficking cocaine, 36 grams or more
- Conspiracy to violate drug law
Sanchez-Lara was also charged with false ID information.
