Two injured in Providence motorcycle accident

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Police Department said that a motorcycle hit two pedestrians on Elmwood Avenue on Tuesday.

Spokesperson Lindsay Lague said that around 7 p.m. a car stopped to let a man and woman cross the street, when a speeding motorcycle hit the rear of the car, mounted the center median, and hit the pedestrians.

She added that the woman sustained minor injuries but the man was dragged by the motorcycle, which also caught fire.

The man sustained burns and an ankle injury.

Lague said the motorcycle’s driver fled the scene and police are still searching for them.

The incident is under investigation.
