Two new executive orders issued for city of New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, M.A. (WLNE) – New Bedford Mayor, Jon F. Mitchell signs two executive orders for the city.

The first order requires that any employee who tests positive for the coronavirus, the business they work for must report the case to the city’s department of health.

The second order requires that businesses that can’t ensure social distancing must either build barriers to protect employees or provide full PPE including masks, face shields, gowns and gloves.

The mayor stated that cases are continuing to rise in New Bedford with 878 total cases and 23 deaths.

In addition he specified that when re-opening the economy it needs to be done incrementally.

The mayor signed these orders after handing out cease and desist orders to certain business that were not complying with regulations regarding masks or social distancing.
