Cranston Police have charged two people for stealing copper pipes from a church.

Marcus Goodrich and Chelsea DiChiara were taken into custody at St. Paul’s Church on Warwick Avenue around 5 a.m. on Thursday.

The parish’s pastor called police when he heard a loud noise and witnessed Goodrich ripping pieces of the copper gutter off the side of the church and putting them in a vehicle.

Police arrived on scene and observed Goodrich and the vehicle that was being operated by DiChiara. Copper was located in the vehicle as well as large bolt cutters.

The copper was returned to the pastor, who says that on behalf of the church, he wishes to press charges.
