U-Haul offers free storage to students amid virus outbreak

U-Hall is stepping forward to help college students who are forced to vacate their residences due to the coronavirus outbreak by offering free self-storage for 30 days.

The free month applies to new customers with college IDs and is a limited-time offer subject to availability, according to the statement from U-Haul.

“We don’t know how every student is affected. But we know they are affected,” said U-Haul President, John “JT” Taylor.

“More and more universities are giving instructions to leave campus and go home. Students and their parents are in need of moving and storage solutions. We have the expertise and network to help, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do,” he said.

The free month is typically extended to communities impacted by natural disasters.

This marks the first time U-Haul has extended the offer Company-wide.

As a result of a growing number of schools are evacuating campuses in favor of online instruction, U-Haul is preparing for an early spring moving rush.
