Uber and Lyft to offer free rides to vaccination sites starting Monday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Uber and Lyft are partnering with the White House to offer free rides to and from vaccination sites starting on Monday.

President Joe Biden initially announced the initiative on Tuesday on his Twitter.

The companies hope to help get the United States to be 70% vaccinated by July 4, when the program ends.

Those looking to be vaccinated can redeem their four free rides on the Uber app by going to the “vaccine” section.

From there, they’ll be able to redeem a free ride anytime between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Riders can then enter the zip code of their appoint to find the location on the app.

Drivers will receive full pay for the rides, but riders are encouraged to leave a tip.
