Under 18 Tanning Ban Mulled in RI

Senate to vote on underage tanning ban

STATE HOUSE – The Senate is scheduled to vote tomorrow, Wednesday, May 12, on legislation to ban children under 18 from using tanning facilities.

The legislation (2010-S 2205A), sponsored by Sen. Rhoda E. Perry (D-Dist. 3, Providence) would prohibit people under 18 from using tanning facilities unless they present a prescription for ultra-violet radiation treatment from a licensed physician. The Senate Committee on Health and Human Services has recommended passage.

The Senate session begins at 4 p.m. in the Senate chamber on the second floor of the State House.
