RI unemployment rate drops to 8.8%

The April unemployment numbers marked a new low for Rhode Island dipping
below 9%.

The unemployment rate hit 8.8% in April dropping to it's
lowest level since October 2008.

The number dropped .3% since March. The number of unemployed
Rhode Islanders dropped by 1,700 and the number of employed residents rose by

RI based jobs also saw an increase by 500 jobs, the biggest
growth in the Accommodation & Food Services and Manufacturing industries.

The U.S. unemployment rate is 7.5%.
