UPDATE: Man found not guilty in Newport stabbing death

The man accused of stabbing a
43-year-old Joseph Perryman was found not guilty of stabbing 44-year-old Anthony Simmons to death after an argument in Simmons’ apartment two years ago.
The verdict came after two-and-a-half days of deliberation.
In December of 2012, Simmons’ girlfriend discovered him stabbed to death on the living room floor and called police. A short time later police found Perryman just down the road carrying bloody clothing.
