URI Basketball Player Arrested For A Second Time

URI Campus police arrested star basketball player Jonathan Holton Thursday again, this time on fugitive charges for a robbery warrant out of Miami. According to URI officials, Miami-Dade Police contacted the University last night after hearing about Holton's video voyeurism charges, and issued a warrant for his arrest. Holton was arraigned Thursday on the fugitive charge as well as a stolen goods charge. Police say a $1,200 Macbook laptop was found in Holtons place that had been reported stolen by a student last July.

Holton was arrested Tuesday on charges he video taped himself having sex two different times with two different women, and then the videos were posted on Facebook. Holton is being held at the ACI trying to come up with bail.

Holton has to return to Miami to face the robbery charge. URI's Sports Director says there are no policies that require a background check on players. The University says its the coach's responsibility to look into a player's history. Coach Jim Barron recruited Holton, but was fired after a losing season.
