KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island freshman Ishmael Leggett has been named the Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Leggett was perfect from the floor in Rhode Island’s win over Seton Hall on Dec. 2, going 4-for-4 on his field goal attempts en route to his second straight 11-point performance. Of the four field goals, two were from 3-point range. Playing a career-high 25 minutes, Leggett had a plus-minus of +14 in the 76-63 victory over the Pirates.

For the season, the Washington, D.C. native is averaging 7.0 points off the bench. He is shooting .667 from the floor (12-of-18). He is averaging 16.3 minutes per game.

Leggett is the first Rhode Island player to earn A-10 Rookie of the Week honors since Fatts Russell received the honor for the week of Dec. 4, 2017.

Rhode Island is back in action Wednesday afternoon when it plays at No. 13 Wisconsin. The game will tip at 4:30 p.m. EST and will air on the Big 10 Network.
