University of Rhode Island Press Release

KINGSTON, R.I. – For the second time in as many games, Rhode Island quarterback Kasim Hill has been named the CAA Football Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.

After a slow start against Stony Brook Saturday, Hill heated up with the game on the line. He finished the day 21-of-37 for 226 yards and one touchdown in the air, and 66 yards and one touchdown on the ground.

In the fourth quarter and overtime, Hill was 10-for-13 for 134 yards and the game-winning touchdown, a 27-yard pass to tight end Caleb Warren in overtime. He had a 40-yard run to set up Rhody’s first touchdown of the day, and his 8-yard touchdown run put URI ahead 20-13 in the fourth quarter.

Through four games, Hill has thrown for 942 yards and six touchdowns while completing 61-of-103 pass attempts. He also has rushed for 188 yards and three touchdowns. Hill has thrown just one interception. Since being named the starter last spring, Hill is 6-1 for Rhode Island.

This is his second weekly CAA Football honor. He also was the conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance at Brown on Sept. 18.

Rhode Island is back in action Saturday when it hosts Delaware. Game time is 1:05 p.m.
