KINGSTON, R.I. – Senior offensive lineman Dave Valley and senior defensive end Victor Adesanya were named team captains for the 2010 Rhode Island Football team on Wednesday.
“Dave and Victor have had great offseasons and have natural leadership ability,” said head coach Joe Trainer. “I could not be more proud of these student-athletes.”
Valley enters his senior season having appeared in 30 career games. In 2009, the East Providence, R.I. native anchored an offensive line, which did not allow a sack in three games. He also helped the offensive unit surpass 400 yards in total offense on three separate occasions a year ago.
Andesanya comes into his final season logging 34 career appearances. Last season the Staten Island, N.Y. native tallied 34 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and four sacks, which tied for second on the team.
Rhody opens the 2010 season on Thursday Sept. 2 at Buffalo. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
