URI Running Back Kevin Brown Named CAA Offensive Player of the Week
Rhode Island redshirt freshman Kevin Brown, Jr. was named CAA Football Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday morning.
In his URI debut, Brown dominated on the ground, running for 141 yards and four touchdowns. He had a long rush of 61 yards on the opening drive of the day, setting up his first of four scores.
Brown averaged 7.1 yards per carry and became just the ninth player in Rhode Island history to score four touchdowns in a game. The last time a URI player ran for four scores in a game was Jayson Davis at Fordham on Sept. 4, 2004.
The last Ram to earn the league’s Offensive Player of the Week honor was quarterback Vito Priore for the week of Oct. 7, 2019, when he passed for 389 yards and three touchdowns at Brown.
Rhode Island travels to Albany for a game Saturday, March 20.
