One of URI’s redshirt freshman quarterbacks has been suspended indefinitely, after being arrested Friday night in Maryland.

Luke Casey was arrested on charges of second degree assault, disorderly conduct and two counts of possession of a fake identification card.

A statement released by URI Director of Athletics, Thorr Bjorn states: “Effective immediately, the University of Rhode Island Athletics Department has suspended redshirt freshman Luke Casey indefinitely from the University’s football program pending the outcome of the police investigation following his arrest last Friday night in Maryland.”

The 6–foot–4 quarterback was making his case for starting at the position for the Rams, after scoring three touchdowns in the spring game this past April.
