KINGSTON, R.I. (WLNE)- The University of Rhode Island said it would test all students, both on and off-campus, in a statement issued Monday afternoon.

The mandatory testing is in partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Health.

According to the statement, the move comes as the college looks to get a sense of how widespread infections are among students, and provide “a baseline data set to measure population health for the remainder of the fall semester.”

According to the statement, the school’s positivity rate continues to fall within state and national guidance on reopening.

The school has a COVID-19 tracker that will be updated with more information.
