Firefighters were called to 33 Hamilton Street in Providence just before 4 PM Monday evening for a 2 alarm fire. Smoke could be seen billowing for miles. When crews arrived there was heavy fire pouring out of the three story vacant home.

Because of extensive damage and the fact the building is vacant fire crews were called out temporarily to re-access the situation but did go back in to fight the flames.

By 6 PM most of the fire was under control. Crews remained on scene battling hot spots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. There are no injuries.
