Victim of Providence triple shooting remembered as family man

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A candlelight vigil was held Monday night in Providence in memory of a man who died over the weekend after a shooting last week.

Jhensen Baldayac, 33, was one of three men shot on June Street near the Chad brown housing complex last Thursday. He died at a local hospital Saturday.

Loved ones and the Providence community came out to pay their respects for Baldayac, who they described as a family man.

“It actually makes me feel good, it shows that people actually loved him, and his life really meant something. He impacted people. And it hurt them to lose someone with great knowledge, great wisdom, you know — he was different.” said Baldayac’s cousin, Jacob Gerena.

No arrests have been made regarding the shooting.

Officers did find the car believed to be involved in the shooting.

Baldayac’s death marks the 11th homicide in Providence this year.
