Victims identified in fatal Plainville crash

PLAINVILLE, M.A. (WLNE) – Police have identified the victims killed in a fatal crash Monday afternoon in Plainville. 

According to police, the crash happened around 3:45 p.m. on Taunton Street on the stretch of road between Routes 1 and 106.

The couple’s car collided with a work van, and both vehicles were severely damaged.

The driver, identified as 86-year-old Ralph Lanciano, of Florida, the car died from his injuries at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. His wife, identified as Josephine McAllister-Lanciano, 93, died at Rhode Island Hospital.

The driver of the van was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment and later released. 

No charges have been filed to the driver of the work van at this time, but Plainville Police and Massachusetts State Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
