Victims in fatal accident identified as Rhode Islanders

BILLERICA, Mass. (AP) _ Two Rhode Island residents have been identified as victims of a deadly crash at a crowded indoor auto auction in Massachusetts.
Three people died Wednesday and nine were injured on Wednesday when an SUV being shown to prospective buyers suddenly accelerated, striking several people and crashing through a wall at the LynnWay Auto Auction.
The Middlesex District Attorney and Billerica police said Thursday that 48-year-old Brenda Lopez and 49-year-old Pantaleon Santos, both of Rhode Island, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their home towns were not provided.
The third victim, previously identified by relatives, was 36-year-old Leezanda Aponte, a mother of three from Lowell.
One man remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
The driver, a man in his 70s, was not hospitalized.
Investigators believe the crash was not an intentional act.
