After ten days of demolition, the Mayor of Warwick is quite please with the progress so far as the old Rocky Point Park comes down.

In it’s place will eventually be a public park, beachfront access and an expanded walking path. But in the mean time, a portion of the existing walking path is closed for construction, for the safety of the public. The path is closed in the area of the shore diner. A small portion remains open.

“We are asking everyone to remain patient. We know everyone want to be down here. But have a little bit of time where we need to keep part of our park closed in order to protect everyone during the demolition,” Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian said.

The project is expected to take about two more months to complete. Mayor Avedisian plans to update the public on its progress every two weeks.
