Wareham firefighters tackle overnight 2-alarm house fire

WAREHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — The Wareham Fire Department said they respond to a wind-driven house fire early Sunday morning.
According to officials, shortly after midnight, firefighters found a home on Atlantic Avenue with flames showing and subsequently called in a second alarm.
Officials said the fire was under control in just about one hour. An occupant in the home was able to escape before responders arrived on scene.
Firefighters located the owner’s cat inside the home and rescued it. Both the cat and its owner were unharmed.
Officials said Wareham firefighters remained on the scene for several hours wetting down hot spots.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation but officials said it does not appear suspicious.
