Wareham police investigate bank robbery

At approximately 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Wareham Police and detectives responded to a reported bank robbery at Santander Bank on Main Street.

According to police, a man had passed a note to the teller demanding money. The suspect left the bank after receiving an undetermined amount of cash.

No weapon was shown by the suspect during the robbery, and there were no reported injuries during the incident.

After being advised of the suspect’s possible identity, police and K-9 tracked the suspect to an apartment at 436 Main Street; nearly a quarter mile of the Santander Bank.

At this Main Street address, officers arrested 35 year old resident Kenneth Gillpatrick, who matched the description of the suspect.

There was no incident during Gillpatrick’s arrest. His bail was set at $5000.

Mr. Gillpatrick will be arraigned on the charge of unarmed robbery at Wareham District Court on Monday, January 11, 2016.
