Warming stations open throughout Rhode Island ahead of severe cold front

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — With a severe cold front hitting the state towards the end of the week, The Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency is coordinating with cities and towns on the status of local warming stations.

Gov. Dan McKee announced that the Department of Housing implemented its emergency weather policy to give more support to homeless shelter providers.

The following communities will have warming stations available to the public for those who need temporary shelter.

Barrington: 

The Barrington Library will be open every day of the week. Hours vary. The warming center will be open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Public Safety Building is open 24/7.

Bristol:

The Bristol Recreation Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Roger’s Free Library is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Friday and Saturday it is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Burrillville: 

Jesse Smith Library is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Friday and Saturday it is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Residents of Burrillville seeking warming stations outside of these hours are asked to call 402-641-0898.

Central Falls: 

Forand Manor is open every day of the week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Wilfrid Manor is open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Charlestown: 

Charlestown Town Hall is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Charlestown Community Center is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Cross’ Mills Public Library is open the following hours:

• Monday: 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
• Tuesday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Wednesday and Thursday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Friday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
• Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Police Community Room is open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Charlestown residents in need of a warming station outside of these hours are asked to call 401-364-1212 – extension “0.”

Coventry: 

The Coventry Police Department is available as needed.

Coventry Public Library is open the following hours:

• Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Thursday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Sunday 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Coventry Department of Human Resource and Senior Center is open 8″30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Cranston: 

Central Library is open Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cumberland: 

The Cumberland Public Safety Complex is open 24/7.

East Greenwich: 

East Greenwich Community Center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The East Greenwich Police Community Room is open daily and can be accessed as needed.

Exeter: 

The Town hall will be open if it is needed.

Glocester: 

Glocester Manton Free Library is open the following days and hours:

• Monday through Wednesday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Glocester Senior Center is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Glocester Town Hall will be open as needed. The hours are to be determined, as this is not a standing warming station.

Harmony Library is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Hopkinton: 

The Hopkinton Police Station is available as needed. Contact the police department at 401-377-7750 for assistance.

Jamestown: 

The Jamestown Police Station will be open 24 hours all week.

Jamestown Town Hall will be available during normal business hours.

Johnston: 

Johnston Senior Center will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Johnston Public Library will be open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Lincoln: 

Lincoln Public Library is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Lincoln Senior Center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is also open Saturday and Sunday. Those in need of a warming center over the weekend are asked to call ahead of time at 401-333-1100.

Little Compton: 

Brownell Library is open the following days and hours:

• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Wednesday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
• Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Middletown: 

Middletown Public Library is open the following days and hours:
