UPDATE: Warwick beach reopens after closure

The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) recommends reopening Goddard Memorial State Park Beach in Warwick for swimming.

This recommendation is based on results from water samples taken Thursday that measured bacteria counts at the beach.

Wednesday, health officials  had recommended  closing the popular beach in Warwick.

The Rhode Island Department of Health closed Goddard Memorial State Park Beach in Warwick for swimming.

Officials found high amounts of bacteria counts in the water samples. Currently, all other licensed beaches are open and safe for swimming.
 
The status of a beach may change daily. The most up-to-date beach information is available through a recorded message on RIDOH’s beaches telephone line (401-222-2751) and online.
