The Warwick community cheered on their Warwick North Little League team as they played in their first Little League World Series game. Many from the area attended a watch party at Bo’s Bar and Billiards in Warwick.

For Warwick North, this tournament appearance is history in the making. It’s the first time the program has ever made it this far.

Unfortunately on Thursday, Warwick North fell to the Mid-Atlantic representative from New York.

The tournament is double elimination so the team’s tournament run is not over.

Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian, who once played for Warwick North Little League, says he couldn’t be more proud of the team regardless of the results.

"We certainly hope they bring home a World Series title but they have already proven to us that they’re the real champions of not only the city of Warwick but the state of Rhode Island,” said Avedisian.
