Warwick police issue warning of a suspicious person

WARWICK, R.I (WLNE) – Police are currently investigating the identity of a suspicious male who approached a juvenile after school on Friday, January 3rd. 

 Officers responded to a King Street residence in response to a suspicious person complaint from earlier in the day. 

Officers say they learned that at approximately 3:30 pm, a male in his 30’s attempted to speak to a child who was just dropped off by a school bus. 

Police say it appeared that when another person walked toward the male’s vehicle he drove away. 

It is unclear what he was doing in the area at the time, police say. 

The person is being described as a tall, skinny white male, with a neck tattoo on the left side of his neck, and his vehicle was being described as a black vehicle with tinted windows and small dents on the side. 

Police say it appears to be an isolated incident but out of an abundance of caution, the yare sharing this information with the public in order to properly identify the person. 

Those with information are asked to contact the Warwick Police department Detective Division. 

The Principle of Scott Elementary School sent an email to the parents of students, notifying them of the incident.
