Warwick police officer suspended after allegedly assaulting and injuring person

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — A Warwick police officer has been suspended without pay after allegedly assaulting someone over the age of 60 on St. Patrick’s Day.

Officer Kyle Fitzsimmons was arraigned in court Wednesday morning and released on a $5,000 bond and no contact order.

Chief Bradford Connor told ABC 6 News that the department is conducting an internal investigation.

“The Warwick Police Department Office of Professional Standards is conducting an administrative investigation into the matter and once the criminal case has concluded we will be prepared to handle the matter appropriately,” Connor said in part in a statement Wednesday.

No further information was immediately released.
