Warwick Police respond to early morning motorcycle accident

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) – Warwick Police responded to an early morning motorcycle crash just before 5:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

The crash happened on the on-ramp of Route 37 West from Post road.

Upon arrival, police discovered a motorcycle involved in a crash with a highway fixture.

The motorcycle was driven by a single male driver and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The driver has been identified as 39-year-old Matthew Medeiros from Hope, RI.

He remains hospitalized at RI Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Warwick Police say that it appears alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

The accident reconstruction team was called in to investigate the crash further.
