Warwick police say farewell to a fan-favorite furry friend

The Warwick Police Department shared this collage of Viking via Facebook.

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — The Warwick Police Department said this week that they’re mourning the loss of a retired K-9.

The department said K-9 Viking and officer Aaron Steere became partners in March 2012 and worked together until Viking’s retirement in 2019.

Police said Viking assisted many local, state and federal agencies and was also deputized by the DEA.

Viking was also a fan-favorite as he appeared many times on LivePD, a famous television series documenting police encounters.

“Our deepest sympathy goes out to Aaron, his wife Bethany and their sons, Aidan and Brady,” the department said.

“Viking, you will be missed by everyone here at the police department as well as the community,” they continued.
