Warwick police sergeant accused of domestic violence in Coventry

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — A Warwick police sergeant is on leave after he was charged with two counts of domestic violence.

According to court documents, Brian Fontaine was charged with two counts of domestic violence for a May 24 incident in Coventry.

Warwick Police Chief Bradford Connor confirmed that Fontaine is a sergeant with the department and he is currently suspended with pay, per LEOBOR and department policy.

Connor added an internal investigation has been launched in the matter.

Fontaine is out on personal recognizance and his next court date is set for June 15.
