WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Warwick Starbucks workers failed to unionize after a tie-breaking vote was not counted.

The workers filed a petition to unionize back in April, and told ABC 6 News that they’re looking for better working conditions and hours.

The initial union vote passed by 9-8 but two votes were challenged.

After the votes were deliberated, one of the votes was counted and resulted in a tie, meaning that it defaults to the standing agreement.

“We have no intent of challenging the result, while disappointing, it is what the resulted in. It is what it is,” a worker at the Warwick location said.
