Watch: Bear walks out from under the deck at New Bedford home

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — An ABC 6 News viewer submitted Ring doorbell footage of a black bear hiding in the backyard of her New Bedford home.

The video shows someone walking out to the shed with some equipment.

The bear then walks out from under the deck after making sure the coast is clear.

The viewer, Sylvia, says this happened on Monday. She lives in the city’s north end.

She shared another video of what appears to be the bear leaving the property.

New Bedford police said sightings were reported on Old Plainville Road, the area of the Park and Ride, and in the forest behind the New Bedford Regional Airport.

Black bear sightings have been reported across southeastern Massachusetts in recent weeks.

At least one bear has been spotted stealing a bird feeder in Dartmouth, hanging out on a deck in Fall River, and crossing the street in Taunton and Mansfield.
