UPDATE: Water is now back on at West Warwick condominiums. Massive yellow tubes are pumping heat into the soaked homes trying to speed up the process so residents can return home. The heat is expected back on in the next few days.

A water main break in West Warwick has forced evacuations at a condominium complex and left a part of a local road collapsed.

The water main broke around 1 a.m. at the intersection of Juniper Drive and East Greenwich Ave.

A portion of the road on Juniper Drive collapsed as a result of the burst.  At this time, the Kent County Water Authority is currently working to repair the eight foot hole in the road.

As a result of the break, a dozen homes are without water and four units in the Juniper Ponds Condos had to be evacuated as a result of the flooding.
