Water main flushing to be done in Cumberland neighborhoods

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — The Woonsocket Water Division announced Tuesday that it will begin flushing water mains in various Cumberland neighborhoods.

According to officials, the flushing will begin at 9 p.m. Tuesday, and last until 5 a.m., Wednesday.

The areas subject to hydrant and water main flushing are as follows:

  • Mendon Road from Route 99 to Cumberland Hill Road
  • All of Oak Grove area
  • Cumberland Hill Road from Mendon Road to Newbury Avenue
  • Founders Drive area

Customers may experience discolored water and lower water pressure than normal. Anyone who experiences discolored water is asked to run their cold water for a short time to clear the lines.

Those in impacted areas are also asked to store clean water containers while flushing is being done.
