Water search underway at Wenscott Reservoir in Lincoln

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A water search for a man began at the Wenscott Reservoir in Lincoln on Sunday evening.

ABC 6 News crews were on scene as first responders conducted a water search in the area of Douglas Pike.

Multiple agencies responded including North Providence, Lincoln, and North Smithfield fire crews, as well as Rhode Island State Police.

At around 9:30 p.m., on Sunday, a Smithfield Field Support unit was parked on Douglas Pike.

Lincoln Fire Chief Robert Fisher said the man had went out to help distressed kayakers and never returned.

Fisher said they will continue the search at 8:30 a.m. Monday.
